This typeface was created as an exercise to get a feel for type design.
I set the goal to create a sans serif font that is – to an extent – similar to classical linear neo-grotesque typefaces like Helvetica and Univers, while adding a contemporary twist: “Brot“ makes use of slightly more squarish curves than usual.
The name derives from the German expression “Brotschrift” (literally “Bread type”), which we use to describe body-text typefaces.
